Energy regulators put off ruling on Plant Vogtle cost overruns

Georgia Power Co. has withdrawn its request that state energy regulators certify a higher price tag for the Plant Vogtle nuclear expansion amid assurances it may be able to recoup those additional costs later. The Atlanta-based utility asked the Georgia Public Service Commission in February to certify Georgia Power’s share in the $14.5 billion project at $5 billion, not including financing costs.
