5 Tips for Planning Your Move to Buckhead

Congratulations! You just bought a new home in Buckhead, one of Atlanta’s most sought-after communities. So, what now? Whether you plan to move from across town or across the country, here are some tips to help you plan the big day:

Buckhead

  1. Only pack what you need.

If you are downsizing, all of your belongings will not fit into the new home. Even if you are upgrading to a larger home, you may have a large, awkward sofa that does not fit in your new living room. Discard items you canno use anymore before you move to save space. If you must bring everything along, you can find several public storage facilities in and around Buckhead.

  1. Label everything.

It may seem like a waste of time, but labeling all of your boxes and bags can actually save you time when you arrive at your Buckhead home. Maybe you need tools to work on your new house or you do not have time to unpack everything but you need clothing for a new job. Labels can take you straight to those items.

  1. Hire a sitter.

If you have kids or pets, consider hiring a sitter on moving day. Maybe they can stay with their grandparents or you can take advantage of one of Buckhead’s reputable pet boarding services. Allowing them to stick around under foot while you or your movers load the truck can slow you down and lead to some major headaches.

  1. Research your neighborhood.

Whether you plan to move to Haynes Manor, Wildwood or another Buckhead neighborhood, take some time to familiarize yourself with it. Use a program like Google Maps to “walk” around the streets and find out where you can grab a bite to eat when your plates are still in boxes or if there is a nice park nearby where you can keep up your jogging routine.

  1. Check the weather.

Here’s the thing about weather in Buckhead and all of Metro Atlanta: It is unpredictable. You can pretty much expect a heat wave in July, but a rain shower can happen at any moment. Keep an eye on local weather forecasts, because the last thing you want to do is get stuck on I-285 during a storm or unload furniture during a major downpour.
